Spring is here – Now there’s no excuse for not growing your Salon
Spring officially started on the 23rd of September and winter is finally over. This was the one of the longest and coldest winters that South Africa has experienced in the last ten years. Almost every Salon and Spa Owner I have spoken to over the last few months has told me that their business dipped significantly this winter. Maybe you can identify with this. I am sure that you have a number of services on your treatment menu like waxing and massage that hardly sold this winter.
Fortunately the weather is warming up and business is already on the increase. But that doesn’t mean that your business will increase! Last night the price of petrol and diesel went up again! Consumers are still feeling the pinch, but they are still spending money. So my question to you is, “What are you doing today, this week and this month to make sure that the change of season brings more business to your door?”
Are you passively sitting and hoping that your diary will get full and turnover will increase. Are you complaining about the way things are or are you getting your hands on new tools, training and ideas that will take your business to the next level?
I am always telling my customers to keep their eyes open for marketing opportunities and spring is a massive opportunity for your business. Let me prove it to you. I came home from Gym irritated this morning. Here’s why – all of a sudden the place is packed. Just a few days ago the gym was empty at six in the morning but today I had to wait in a queue at the squat rack. - they need a new hair do because without it they will have a bad day
- they need to lose weight so that they can feel confident in summer clothing
- they need a pedicure because want to start wearing open toe shoes
So what are you doing about it? Right now you should be marketing mani’s, pedi’s, waxing, nails, tanning and facials like crazy. My customers know that marketing is “putting the right message in front of the right people at the right time.” Now is the perfect time to aggressively market your Salon. You can’t control the interest rate, the price of petrol or what goes on in the economy, but you can create your own economy and thrive through effectively marketing yourself, your skills and your Salon.
